de allí nadando en contra la corriente, subió al territorio del alto magdalena, pero no antes que le tocó dar la vuelta a represa de Betania. Una represa hidroeléctrica con un embalse de 7,000 ha por los ríos Magdalena y Yaguará que se inauguro hace 21 años. Originalmente de la represa era de Centrales Eléctricas del Huila pero que hace un par de años que fue comprada por la empresa transnacional energética Española, Endesa, por su filial Emgesa Colombia. Esta represa que siempre es usado como un punto de referencia por las personas que no fueron desplazados por el proyecto que ha sido algo muy bueno para la economía de la región. Aunque siempre hablan de como ese proyecto ha sido la salvación del pueblo de Yaguará y que por el embalse llegan turistas que no llegaban antes. Hoy uno pasa por Yaguará y ve muchos hoteles abandonados, que muy poca gente visita y menos mas de una vez y que la pobreza sigue. Vemos esto con miedo y preocupación ahora que la represa del Quimbo que quieren hacer no muy lejos de Betania se esta impulsando con las mismas ideas.
En este tiempo hemos estado acompañando varias comunidades y fincas de las que serian afectadas por el proyecto del Quimbo. Vemos unas cosas que deberían preocupar la gente pero vemos que los interesas de la gente fuera de la zona del embalse es el dinero, son de ideas e ilusiones de un progreso y un desarrollo que nunca va llegar como se les esta pintando. Se ve, se siente, se olfatea que los habitantes del las comunidades que quedarían en una sepultura acuática, los bosque riparios, los campo agrícolas, los ríos y quebradas no se quieren ir. No quieren perder su historia. Que sus lideres se están comprando fácilmente, doblándolos como la guadua en un viento de agosto y reproduciendo un discurso que para manipular y humillar los habitantes humildes de esto territorio. Estamos entre traidores. Se escucha como los medios de comunicación, especialmente las emisoras de radio que son afiliadas de RCN y Caracol, como Radio Garzón, siguen difundiendo una desinformación que el proyecto ya es "un hecho" cuando en actualidad su licencia ambiental esta suspendida por el Ministro de Medio Ambiente y se esta esperando un estudio de impactos alternas a la que ya existe, la que fue hecho por la Emgesa. En ninguna parte del mundo, pero especialmente acá, no existe la objetividad de los medios de incomunicación.
Vemos que los que no viven en la región mas afectada están ejerciendo un poder en la toma de las decisiones en este proceso, al igual la juventud y los niñxs, los mas afectados a largo plazo son los mas desarticulados de este proceso. Supuestamente vivimos en una democracia. Vemos hijos que pisotean y no valoran la lucha de sus padres al igual que no piensan en el futuros de sus hijxs, mucho menos sus nietos y mas allá. En rompiendo con el machismo tan cotidiano en nuestras culturas vemos que los vendidos son una manada de malinchos y que de las comunidades, lxs verdaderos guerrerxs con la dignidad rebelde son las mujeres y lxs jóvenes. Acá y en muchas otras partes, la conquista española nunca termino.Durante este tiempo que hemos estado en el territorio ancestral de la nutria abeja, un día se fue a Neiva, volviendo después de no estar hace ya como nueve lunas. En esta visita corto se hizo el taller de Plan Colonia en el hall de educación en la Universidad Sur Colombiana. Con hormigas y otros animales de amor por la tierra pudimos compartir el cuenta cuentos usándolo como una contextualización de los peligros por la amenaza del Quimbo, muchos detalles que saldrán con próximos artículos enfocados en las experiencias e historias de las comunidades.
Ademas del Quimbo se habló de como un arroz transgénico con su origen y patente perteneciendo a la empresa Monsato, esta siendo impulsado a los arroceros de la región a quien se les esta diciendo que deberían cultivar esta variedad de arroz en las zonas mas altas de los arrozales para que el viento se lleva el polen de esta variedad con semilla terminador y lo cruce con las variedades propias de arroz en las partes mas bajas. El viento ademas de llevar el polen, se esta llevando nuestra soberanía y seguridad alimentaria. El Quimbo, es uno, y es el mas grande y mas presente de las muchas amenazas en el territorio. ¿Como seguimos con crear este territorio mejor que queremos? ¿Que son nuestras herramientas? ¿Cuales son nuestras fuerzas al igual nuestras debilidades? ¿Que mas hacemos? Por que hay un territorio que defender y no solamente para nosotrxs pero también los que siguen.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A couple of weeks ago the otter bee slid from the savannah of Bogota to the Magdalena River, swiming against the current climbing to the upper magdalena river valley, but not before having run into and go around the Betania dam.
A hydroelectric dam with a reservoir of 7000 ha coverings parts of the rivers Yaguara and Magdalena was inaugurated 21 years ago. Originally the belonged to and was operated Centrales Electricas del Huila, that a couple of years ago it was purchased by the Spanish energy company, Endesa, or in actuality by its subsidiary Emgesa Colombia. This dam, which is always used as a reference point by people who were not displaced by the project about it has been very good for the economy of the region. While always outsiders speak of how this project has been a salvation of the people of Yaguara and that because of the reservoir many tourists were going to come that had not come before. Today Yaguara is littered with many abandoned hotels, very few people visit and even less come back and the poverty continues. We view this with fear and concern now that the Quimbo dam that is planned not far from Betania is being promoted with the same ideas.At this time we have been accompanying several communities and farms which would be affected by the project's Quimbo. We see some things that should worry people but we see that the interests of people outside the reservoir area is just the money, there are ideas and dreams of progress and development that will never arrive as it is being painted.
It looks, feels, smells like the inhabitants of the communities that would be in a acuatic grave, the riparian forest, agricultural fields, the rivers and streams do not want to go. They do not want to lose their history. There are leaders that are being bought easily, and folder easier than bamboo in a August wind and goign around with manipulative speeches trying to humiliate the humble inhabitants of this territory. We are among traitors. What one hears on the media, especially radio stations that are affiliates of RCN and Caracol, such as Radio Garzon, continue to spread misinformation that the project it is "a fact" when in reality the environmental permit is currently suspended by the Minister of Environment and there is another authorized alternative impact study, the already existing one was done by none other then Emgesa. Here, like everywhere else in the world, there is no objectivity in the media and its miscomunication. We see that those who do not live in the region most affected are exercising a power to make decisions in this process, while at the same time youth and children, the most affected in the long term of this process are also non existent in the process. Supposedly we live in a democracy. 
We see children who do not value and trample what their parents struggled for and they act like they do not think in the future of their children, much less their grandchildren and beyond. In breaking with the machismo everyday as we see in our cultures, we see we are being sold out by a pack of Malinches within the communities, real realy warriors with rebel dignity are the women and young people. Here and in many other parts, the Spanish conquest never end.During this time we have been in the ancestral lands of the otter bee, one day he went to Neiva, returning after not being there for about nine moons ago. In this short visit we did a workshop of Colonia Plan at the education block of the University of South Colombia. With ants and other animals who especially have a love for the land we shared the storytelling using it as a contextualization of the dangers by the threat of Quimbo, many details that will come with articles focused on the experiences and stories of communities.
Adding to the Quimbo was talk of a genetically modified rice with its origin and patent belonging to the company Monsato, and how it is being driven to the rice growers in the region who are saying that they should cultivate this rice variety in the highest areas of the paddies so the wind carries the pollen of this plant with its terminator seeds and crossing with the varieties of rice in the lower parts. The wind that also carries pollen, is taking our food sovereignty and security. The Quimbo, is one, and is the largest and most present of the many threats in the territory. How do we continue to making this territory in what we want it to be? What are our tools? What are our strengths and our weaknesses? What more do we do? There is a territory to defend, and not only for us but those that follow.
