Normalmente las Abejas nunca vamos a un lugar sin invitación previa o por lo menos sin establecer contacto con las personas con quienes queremos trabajar. Desde antes de llegar a Manizales estuvimos mandando zumbidos hacia Medellin, pero no tuvimos respuesta, entonces, de puras atrevidas, nos vinimos para acá a ver qué pasaba. La tierra, el tiempo y el espacio tienen su propia manera de funcionar. Son cosas más complejas de lo que logramos entender las simples abejitas o toda la humanidad prepotente. Por casualidad la abeja nutria llego a la ciudad el día antes de que comenzara el Foro Social Medellín.
Aunque los Foros Sociales a nivel mundial y continental suelen ser una fea orgía del complejo industrial de ONGs, reconocemos y valoramos los Foros Sociales a escala local y regional por ser creados por y para los sectores marginalizados desde sus respectivos territorios geográficos.
El Foro Social Medellin se lanzó con el lema "¡Que otra ciudad es posible. Sin Miseria ni exclusión!" y propone que todos nos "Movilicemos contra la pobreza como forma violenta de exclusión y contra las políticas neoliberales y privatizadoras que favorecen la generación de ganancias sobre el bienestar de las personas, violando nuestros derechos humanos".
Los que han ido a un Foro Social saben que hay numerosas actividades como charlas, talleres, asambleas, discusiones, plantones, carnavales y marchas que hacen que solamente un colibrí pueda asistir a todo. Al llegar a Medellín logramos articularnos a dos organizaciones para polinizar. Una de ellas fue la Red Colombiana de Agricultura Biológica- RECAB, Regional Antioquia que, entre otros proyectos, ha trabajado la propuesta del Mercado Ecológico y Solidario que intenta brindar alimentos y productos elaborados con prácticas agroecológicas de bajo impacto ambiental con un enfoque de economía solidaria. 
Busca ser un espacio de encuentro entre las organizaciones comunitarias y los pobladores y pobladoras de las regiones urbanas para compartir conocimientos, hacer intercambios, comprar y vender productos y alimentos de alta calidad biológica, y mantener la cultura y el apoyo entre familias urbanas y rurales ante la crisis económica y ambiental que se vive en la actualidad. El sábado previo al lanzamiento del Foro, abrieron un puesto en la Plaza de Mercado Ecológico las Américas, ampliando este trabajo de economía solidaria entre los sectores urbanos y rurales. La segunda fue la Red Juvenil- Medellin que es una organización juvenil social y política que trabaja desde hace 17 años en la ciudad. Sus propósitos están centrados en el empoderamiento juvenil y la resistencia a la guerra desde la No-Violencia-Activa como principio filosófico y proyecto de vida. Su búsqueda es la transformación de las prácticas culturales que legitiman la cultural militarista, el actual sistema político y el modelo económico.
El domingo que se lanzó el Foro, fuimos con las hormigas del Colectivo de Artistas de la Red Juvenil al Barrio La Esperanza en el Suroccidente de la ciudad. En la casa comunitaria del barrio, junto a vecinxs del Barrio nuevo Amanecer, se realizaron varios actos lúdicos. 
Antes de comenzar, se hizo un recorrido con el grupo de Chirimía por los callejones del barrio invitando a las personas al sancocho comunitario y a los eventos programados. Los integrantes del colectivo presentaron una obra de teatro que mostraba como el gobierno tiene un bolsillo sin fondo para financiar la guerra, pero muy estrecho cuando se trata de la salud de los colombianos. La obra trataba sobre personas que tienen el SISBEN, programa de gubernamental de salud para personas de escasos recursos, que reciben una atención de baja calidad en comparación con la impecable atención que reciben los que pueden acceder a planes de medicina pre-pagada. También se presentó el grupo de baile del barrio Nuevo Amanecer. Para cerrar, hicimos un taller expreso del Plan Colombia que fue positivamente acogido por las personas del barrio. Una señora de la zona del Embalse del Peñón comentó que fueron desplazados a la ciudad por las fumigaciones al perder sus cultivos de alimentos como maíz y fríjol.
Aunque el primer día estuvo lleno de actividades, por la tarde estaba planeado ir al barrio Manrique a participar en el evento "Memoria Histórica, Desarrollo Local y Derechos Humanos en la zona Nororiental de Medellín”. Pero, muy a nuestro pesar, un chaparrón repentino de grandes proporciones nos impidió llegar. De todos modos seguimos volando de barrio a barrio tratando de polinizar con nuestras hermanas hormigas, aliadas locales.

We Bees normally never go to a place without prior invitation or at least making contact with people with whom we wish to work. Even before arriving in Manizales we were sending buzzings to Medellin, but we never received as answer, so, out of pure boldness we came here to see what was happening. The land, time and space have their own way of working. Things much more complex than what we simple lil bees can understand as well as the arrogant humanity. By chance the otter bee came to town the day before the start of the Medellin Social Forum. Although the global and continental Social Forums often become an ugly orgy of the industrial NGO complex, we recognize and appreciate the local and regional Social Forums for being created by and for the marginalized sectors of the respective geographic territories.
The Medellin Social Forum was launched under the slogan "Another city is possible. Without Misery or exclusion!" and proposes that everyone "mobilizes against poverty as a violent form of exclusion and against neoliberal and privatizing policies that favor the generation of profits over the wellbeing of people, violating our human rights."
Those who have gone to a Social Forum know that there are so many activities such as lectures, workshops, meetings, discussions, carnivals and marches that only a hummingbird could attempt to attend everything. Upon arriving to Medellin we managed to make contact with two organizations to be able to pollinate with. 
One was the Colombian Network of Biological Agriculture RECAB-Regional Antioquia, which, among other projects operantes the Ecological and Solidarity Market that works to provide food and home made products of agro-ecological practices with low environmental impact within the fostering of a solidarity based economy. It seeks to be a point of encuentro between community organizations, urban and rural peoples to share knowledge, exchanges, buy and sell products and high biological quality of food, maintain a culture and mutual aid amongst urban and rural families in face of the economic and environmental crisis that we live in today. On Saturday, prior to the launch of the Forum, RECAB opened a stand in the Ecological Market Square of the Americas, extending this work of solidarity economy between urban and rural areas. 
The second group was the Youth Network-Medellin, a social and political youth organizationthat has been working for 17 years in the city. Its purposes are focused on youth empowerment and resistance to war in the form of non violent direct action as a philosophical principle and life project. Part of their work is towards the transformation of cultural practices that legitimate a militarized culture as well as the current political system and economic system.
On Sunday the Forum was launched, we went with the ants of the Youth Network´s Artists' Collective to the barrio La Esperanza in the Southwest of the city. In the barrio´s community center also accompanied with folks from the barrio Nuevo Amanecer, several presentations were realized. Though before the Chirimía musical group played thought the streets and alleys of the barrio inviting people to community sancocho (big stew) and the events scheduled. 
The members of the group presented a play that showed the government´s bottomless pocket to finance the war, but very shallow pocket when it comes to the health of Colombians. The play was about people who have the SISBEN, government health program for low-income people, and how their care is beyond poor quality compared to the impeccable attention paid to who can afford the pre-paid medical plan. The dance group from the barrio Nuevo Amanecer also did a piece. At the end we did express a workshop of the Plan Colombia which was positively received by people in the neighborhood. A lady from the area of the Embalse la Peña commented that they were displaced to the city by the aerial fumigations that killed crops like corn and beans.
While the first day was full of activities, the afternoon we planned to go to the barrio Manrique to participate in the event "Historical Memory, Local Development and Human Rights in the area northeast of Medellin." But a sudden downpour of incredible proportions prevented us from heading out. Anyway we still flying from barrio to barrio pollinating with our sister ants and other local allies.
