For over a week coffee growers through the entire country have been protesting the governments policies that have hurt growers in particular the Free Trade Agreements with the United State and the European Union. In regions such as Huila, Cauca, Tolima, Quindio and Antioquia peaceful protests have been met with violent repression by riot police (ESMAD) who have been shipped from the Caribbean Coast to regions such as Huila and Cauca to further repression. This weekend the corrupt National Federation of Coffee Growers stated the strike was over when they do not speak for the the tens of thousands of Coffee Growers still peacefully protesting throughout the country against the President Santos´ policies.
