Denunciamos los actos de persecución y amenazas que han aumentado a personas que acompañan el proceso de resistencia contra la hidrolectrica el Quimbo y que se han hecho evidentes luego de la circulación del vídeo donde la comunidad es agredida por el Esmad un atropello de Estado para garantizar intereses de la multinacional.
Ojo esta es la respuesta de un integrante de ese escuadrón, entonces qué esperar?

"VIDA vs. EXILIO"
No había entendido que para que la vida funcione y sea vida uno debe acompañar al otro, pero la realidad así me lo ha demostrado. Es triste ver que la gente le dice a uno "es mejor que se vaya, lo queremos vivo", y es triste porque lo que no han entendido es que vivir significa ser pleno, independiente, amar sus ideales, vivir al lado de ellos, estar rodeado de su gente.
No saben que exilio es muerte lenta, por más fortaleza que uno tenga, algo dentro de uno va muriendo. Inicia cuando ya no se sonríe como antes ni tantas veces, luego ya no se llora a pesar del dolor que se lleve, y continua con los días y las noches prolongándose sin partes de victoria o derrota del día trabajado, sin el timbre del celular que replica o la charla sobre futuros proyectos, y al final la palabra libertad causa risa.
Para que se me ayude debo ocultar la realidad, mucho más de lo que se hace en Colombia, porque estoy en un país desarrollado. Si antes no podía llorar, ahora no puedo reflejar mi tristeza, y por el contrario debo agradecer que tengo "VIDA EN EL EXILIO". Acá recuerdo unas palabras celebres que están plasmadas en un afiche: "es mejor morir por algo que morir por nada". Ahora mas que nunca entiendo esta frase, porque acá estoy muriendo lentamente.
Todos esperan que diga que estoy en un breve receso, cargando baterías o que los estoy dejando descansar. La verdad es que no es nada de lo anterior. Me dejé convencer sobre la pertinencia del exilio, tal vez porque la cara de la muerte se me presentó muy pero muy de frente.
Hoy acá desde tierras bellas con hermosa gente me invade la soledad, me falta mi gente, mi familia, la mujer, la Diva (ella sabe a quién es) y por qué no, hasta mis problemas y a todos esos a los que amo porque son de mi tierra, son mi vida sin exilio. Ahora a la suma de los días sin mi hijo debo sumar los días que me escondo y no puedo contar los días para llegar a casa porque no se cuando vuelva. Tampoco sé si regreso por mis propios medios derrotando al fantasma del exilio o si en esta lucha tan desigual el me derrota y me lleva a casa a encontrarme con Nicolás.

En este momento toda la comunidad que permanece en la María está rodeada por el Ejército que prepara un asalto armado contra los civiles involucrados en la protesta. Hay dos heridos de gravedad en la María, uno de ellos posiblemente morirá. Dos indìgenas de Tierradentro fueron detenidos. Simultáneamente fueron trasladados 4 cadáveres de Guasanó Corinto a la Morgue de Caloto. Hasta el momento el Fiscal impide el ingreso de autoridades indìgenas para identificar a las víctimas y examinar los cadáveres.
Nos han bloqueado www.nasaacin.org . Por favor sigan insistiendo y exijan que el Estado colombiano respete el derecho a la comunicación. Estamos subiendo la información que podemos a la página del CRIC www.cric-colombia.org.

In this special edition of Colombia Review, we turn to Cauca, Colombia, where indigenous peoples have been mobilizing over the past several days (517 years really) in commemoration of the dawn of Spanish colonialism in the Americas, a colonialism that has changed bosses but never really subsided. Their resistance to the neoliberal project (most explicitly represented by Plan Colombia I and II, Plan Puebla Panama, the IIRSA, and a number of other local, national and transnational projects, all of accumulation and death) and in defense of their Life Plans as well as those of the rest of Colombia's popular and social movements. Readers will have paid close attention to the struggle of the sugarcane workers (the corteros), which is still on-going and in serious need of outside support and people pressuring the states responsible for the terror they are courageously facing head-on. As we watch the struggle of the corteros and express our solidarity with them from outside, the indigenous of Cauca have stood beside the corteros at every step, just as the corteros have supported the indigenous 'liberation of Mother Earth'.
Still, the situation is intensifying in Cauca. In the last 10 days, no less than 13 indigenous have been murdered, this following the threat from the 'Angry Peasants of Cauca' received by the indigenous movement in Cauca on the 5th of August, 2008. Much of the violence is attributed to the paramilitary group the 'Aguilas Negras', a reincarnation (or extension) of the supposedly demobilized right-wing death squads that have hunted down trade unionists, social movement leaders, and the Uribe regimes opposition over the past few years: those same death squads that have taken up their posts in the Colombian state and negotiate free trade agreements with their allies in the North and impose mining codes and displacement for transnational capital.
In spite of the violence and dire situation, the indigenous and popular movements of Cauca in particular have not let up. Their resolve against the free trade agreements and violence in their territories is not only an inspiration but also a message to those of us outside Colombia that we, too, must stand on the side of civil resistance not only in Colombia but in our own communities. The Colombia model is being countered amidst the most difficult of situations. That same model of armed robbery exists in decidedly different forms in places like Canada, the US and Europe; that model is the same and must also be exposed, confronted and challenged at every step. THAT is perhaps the best kind of solidarity we can express.

UniValle: de la academia a la aplicación - UniValle: from academia to application
Durante la última semana las abejas siguieron polinizando y conociendo el paisaje urbano de Cali. En estos vuelos, la sede en Cali de la Universidad del Valle fue el espacio donde se compartió con estudiantes, educadores y trabajadores sobre nuestra labor y la obra del Plan Colombia en varios lugares como pasillos, auditorios y salones. En las distintas discusiones y espacios que se abrieron para este libre intercambio de conocimientos y experiencias, también se hablaron y trataron varios temas particulares de la región. 
De nuevo fue mencionado el CIAT con más de sus problemáticas pero, específicamente, a nivel local, con la manipulación genética de cultivos tradicionales produciendo nuevas variedades de transgénicos. Se habló de que en el Valle hay varios programas impulsados por el CIAT como el de CLAYUCA. El Consorcio Latinoamericano y del Caribe de Apoyo a la Investigación y al Desarrollo de la Yuca, que es financiado por el Ministerio de Agricultura y Desarrollo Rural, es un proyecto impulsado principalmente por el CIAT que tiene como objetivo la propagación de clones de yuca para producir bioetanol en cambio de alimento. Justo el fin de semana pasado el CIAT tuvo un Seminario en Cali sobre La Cosecha de Yuca con enfoque en sus clones.
En Buga, una ciudad en las afueras de Cali, hay una fábrica de empacar y distribuir productos de Nestlé que tiene historia en la región. Sindicalistas amenazados y asesinados, la venta de leche vencida y la contaminación del río Bugalagrande y sobre el río Cauca, entre otros. Acá se vio que los problemas representativos de Nestlé en distintas partes del mundo son un hecho a nivel regional.Ayer, alrededor del medio día, después de la última charla que realizamos por ahora en Cali, fueron canceladas las demás discusiones planeadas con personas de UniValle porque se presentó un tropel.
Alrededor de media hora después de que comenzó el tropel, el ESMAD y la policía violó la autonomía universitaria y entró al campus universitario acorralando a muchos de los estudiantes, incluso a una gran mayoría que no tenía que nada que ver con el tropel. Entrando por la paso ancho hasta los edificios de ingeniaría y ciencias hubo mucha brutalidad policial hacia los estudiantes, destrucción de propiedad de la universidad y de los estudiantes y la detención de 4 estudiantes que aun están detenidos y están en peligro de ser condenados a varios años cuando no tuvieron nada que ver con los hechos. Eventualmente, los y las estudiantes tomaron dos tanquetas que llegaron hasta las canchas lo que causó que los robocops vinieran a reclamarlos.
Después que se fueron los tanquetas los y las estudiantes se unieron en una pared humana y, literalmente, forzaron al ESMAD a irse hacia afuera caminando para atrás humillados. No fue pacífica pero tampoco violenta la cadena humana que mantenía un cojín entre la expulsión de los monstruos y la gran masa de estudiantes enfurecidos que liberaron a la Universidad. Las noticias en Caracol y RCN hablaron sobretodo de los buses robados y la camioneta destruida aunque también mostraron que los militares y policía discutieron fuertemente acerca de qué entidad tenía el derecho a entrar. Después de meterse la fuerza publica a la universidad y antes de ser expulsados, el comandante de la policía se entrevistó con los noticieros y afirmó que todo había sido tranquilizado y los terroristas capturados.
Aunque al Gobernador del departamento no le importan los hechos y muestra tendencias paralelas al autoritarismo del líder del Estado, sus órdenes, como las de los gobernadores anteriores, para que la fuerza publica atacara y entrara a la universidad, son ilegales y, en ocasiones pasadas, han resultado en casos de estudiantes asesinados impunemente por la fuerza publica o los militares.Mas información-

The Latin American & Caribbean Consortium for the Investigation and Development of Yuca (Cassava) is financed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development Consortium is a project that the CIAT primarily started and supports whose objective is the propagation of cassava clones for the production of bioethanol instead of food. Just this past week the CIAT had a Workshop in Cali about Cassava harvest with a focus on their clones.

Yesterday around midday after the last workshop this time around in 
Around noon after about half an hour that some students had blockaded the entrance of the university with buses, the ESMAD (Colombian riot police) and the police violated university autonomy entering the campus herding and attacking students, most who had nothing to do with the disturbances.Entering from the paso ancho entrance and going as far as the Departments of Engineering and Sciences there was a lot of police brutality towards the students, destruction of students’ and university property as well as the detention of 4 students who are still being detained and are in danger of being sentenced many years when they had nothing to do with the disturbances.
Eventually the students liberated two tanks that got as far as the sports fields until the robocops came to reclaim them. After the tanks left the students formed a human wall and literally forced the ESMAD to retreat from campus walking backwards and humiliated. By no means was it pacifist but non violent was the human chain that formed a bumper between the expulsion of the monsters and the huge mass of students who were outraged into liberating their university. The news on Caracol and RCN spoke mostly of the buses that had been stolen and another burnt vehicle as well as the police and the military nearly fighting over who had the “right” to enter the campus. After the police entered the university and before they were expelled, the commander of the police did a television interview affirming that the university had been calmed down and that the “terrorists” had been captured. 
Even thought the department’s Governor does not care about what has been done and shows tendencies parallel in the authoritarianism of the leader of the State, his orders, like those of past governors, for the police to attack and enter the university is illegal and in the past, has resulted in various cases of students being assassinated in impunity by the police or the military.
