Hace unas semanas que el colectivo de Jaguos por el Territorio, integrante de Asoquimbo, y Polinizaciones recibió al artista callejero Guache en lo que fue una primera jornada de murales en La Jagua en pro de la defensa del territorio y reconocimiento de los seres y conocimientos propios de la región.
El mural de Ríos Vivos se realizó en la tapia pisada de la Institución Educativa de La Jagua que tiene más de 200 años y fue restaurada en una minga de trabajo el año pasado por Asoquimbo. Este mural es fruto de una investigación que incorporo la biodiversidad y petroglifos particulares de la zona, reflejando así la riqueza propia de nuestro territorio. Este mural fue realizado en menos de dos días por más de 45 personas Jaguos; jóvenes , niñxs, hombres y mujeres, quienes de manera colectiva participaron en un tejido de colores que da nueva vida a lo que antes era un muro blanco.
En esa semana también se realizó otros dos otros murales; la primera, "Mujer de Conocimiento", que es una bruja Jagueña descolonizada, algo muy diferente de las brujas eurocentricas que se han adoptado en el pueblo conocido por sus historias de brujas. También el artista Jaguo, Jaguart , realizo una obra inspirado por la vida que habita debajo de la superficie del río.
En las próximas semanas se piensa continuar realizando murales
inspirados por la riqueza natural e histórico de este territorio en
distintas partes del pueblo, al igual pintar y distribuir distintos
letreros alrededor de la comunidad, llamando atención a las personas
sobre las problemáticas de botar basura en los ríos, desde los puentes y
en las salidas del pueblo, y también la cacería, la tala de bosques y
la captura de loras que suceden en las peñas sobre el río Magdalena.
Jaguos por el Territorio y Polinizaciones agradecemos mucho al compañero Guache por su esfuerzo en venir a nuestro territorio, compartir con nosotros y ayudar motivar la juventud Jaguo a reconocer y aplicar sus talentos artísticos, acá lo esperamos para la próxima. -----
A few weeks ago the collective Jaguos por el Territorio (part of Asoquimbo) and Polinizaciones hosted the muralist Guache Street Art in the first mural painting event in La Jagua. The murals celebrate the defense of our territory and the beings and knowledge unique to our region.
The mural "Ríos Vivos" was painted on the rammed
earth wall of the School of La Jagua, which is over 200 years old and
was restored last year in a minga (collective work party) by
Asoquimbo. This mural is the fruit
of researching the biodiversity and petroglyphs of this region, and
reflects the richness of our territory. The mural was created in less
than
two days with over 45 Jaguo children, youth, and adults participating
collectively to paint a tapestry of colors that gives new life to what
was once a blank,
white wall.
That same week another two murals were created as well. The first is called “Woman of Knowledge" and depicts a decolonized Jagueña Witch, something very different from the Eurocentric witches that have been adopted in this village known for its stories of witches. The second mural was created by a Jaguo artist, Jaguart, who was inspired by the life that exists beneath the surface of the rivers.
In the coming weeks, more murals will be painted in different parts of the village, all inspired by the natural and historical richness of this territory. In addition to the murals, signs will be painted and hung around different areas surrounding the village to call attention to problems associated with throwing trash (in the rivers, from bridges, and at entrances of the village) as well as issues of hunting, logging, and capturing parrots, which happens on the cliffs that overlook the Magdalena River.
